Israeli woman's rights activist, lawyer and economist Ella Gira served as Deputy Mayor of Kfar Shmaryahu and is a leader advocating for women’s rights in Israel.  She is the former Executive Director of the Israel Women’s Network (IWN), the leading feminist organization in Israel advocating for women’s rights and leading social change for women, and currently serves as a Member of the Board of the IWN and the Chair of the Friends of the IWN.  Ms. Gera is also a member of the Women’s Budget Forum, a coalition of women’s and human rights groups working together to secure a fair share of the national budget in Israel for women, and was a founding member of the Organization for the Advancement of Women’s Leadership in Israel (R.A.)
